New Examination Centres in Ukraine: Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Sevastopol/Simferopol

University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations is a highly successful world leader in the assessment field, with over 3,5 million candidates taking a range of examinations and tests in more than 135 countries each year. Cambridge ESOL invites expressions of interest from individuals or institutions to establish Examination Centres to develop Cambridge ESOL's exams business in any of the above cities.

Role of the Centre

  • The Centre will be authorised to offer the range of Cambridge ESOL examinations, including Young Learners English, Exams for Schools, General English (for example First Certificate in English – FCE), Academic English (such as Certificate in Advanced English – CAE), and the Business English Certificates (BEC) in paper based as well as computer based versions.
  • The centre will be required to provide an expanding service to different sectors in the region.
  • The Centre will be expected to implement administrative procedures, apply best practice in customer service and deploy business development and marketing strategies that will grow sales of the exams.
  • The role of the Centre will also involve being available to the public on a part-time basis with full-time and weekend work during exam periods and applicants will need to have access to standard office facilities.
  • The centre will be responsible for its pricing policy - a local fee for each examination is set to cover expenses including the remuneration of the Centre Exams Manager. There is no salary paid by Cambridge ESOL to Centre Exams Manager.

Centre Exams Manager

The institution (or individual applicant) should be able to provide a suitable candidate for Centre Exams Manager who will have substantial administrative experience, preferably in an ESOL context, first-class organisational skills and be able to demonstrate the necessary skills to further develop this opportunity. Ideally, the applicant should have contacts within the education sector. Excellent communication skills are essential, whilst a knowledge of Cambridge ESOL examinations is highly desirable.

Process and timetable

Interested applicants should send a letter of application to Arek Jaworski, Cambridge ESOL Development Manager Central Europe Arek.Jaworski@CambridgeESOL.pl

Closing date for receipt of expressions of interest: 29th July 2011

Applicants under consideration will then be asked to complete a proposal response document (in effect a business plan for the Centre). The proposals will be discussed during an interview (if required). It is envisaged that the Centres will be operational in October 2011.
