What makes a good exam - quality and innovation for all timess
People taking English language exams must be confident that they have chosen the best option, that the exam tests the skills they need, the results reflect their true ability and are valued by
stakeholders. This talk examines the principles which must underpin an exam to guarantee that it
is fair and useful, and how the quality of assessment becomes even more critical when the stakes
are high. The presenter will demonstrate some real-life skills required by Cambridge exams, and
show how the qualities of validity and reliability are maintained through innovation and on-going
research.
